Tasks

Type into Add a task… at the top of Tasks, or make one from wherever you are: a note, a sentence to orma, a meeting’s next steps. Every task lands here and stays linked to where it came from.

the Tasks page: tick a task and it moves to completed

Making a task

  • In Tasks: type into Add a task…, pick a list on the pill beside it, and press Enter. Type a new name in the pill to create a list.
  • Anywhere: ⌥ Space, then /task; @ adds people. Or tell orma: “set up Anne’s laptop by Monday”. It checks for a similar task first.
  • From a note or a meeting: start a note line with [] and a space, or press Add on a meeting’s next step.

The Tasks page

  • To Do holds tasks with no list. Each list has its own section with its count and how many are overdue. Overdue tasks sort first, and lists with overdue tasks rise to the top.
  • Drag a task onto another list to move it.
  • N completed at the foot opens what you finished. Untick one to restore it.
  • N upcoming, at the foot of the Tasks & Events panel (⌘ .), lists what is due, by day.

What a task holds

Click a task to open it.

  • A due date and time, with EOD and Tmrw for the common ones.
  • A description.
  • Subtasks. The row shows how many are done, in amber when one is overdue.
  • People. The task shows on their page under Tasks.
  • A list.
  • Linked note, when it came from a note.

Tasks and reminders

A task is something to do. A reminder is orma telling you at a time. For a nudge, ask for one: “remind me tomorrow at nine to call Luke”.
