orma

Working with orma

Calendar

Connect Google Calendar under Connectors, then ask about your schedule, mention plans, or ask orma to change an event. Events only you are on change at once, with Undo. Anything that reaches another person waits for your tap.

an in-person event with when to leave, and how

How to use it

  • Ask. “What’s on today?” or “When am I free on Thursday?”
  • Tell it a plan. “Lunch with George on Friday at one” goes on your calendar. If it names someone in your contacts, orma asks first: Create & invite 1, Create without invites or Not now. If more than one contact matches, it asks which. With no time, it asks What time? right there.
  • Change it. Move or rename an event in a sentence.

Your next meeting gets the top card on Home. For a meeting with other people that day, the card carries a short brief where orma has one, with Last time, Your notes and Participants.

Leaving on time

  1. Turn it on. The first time an in-person meeting with a location is coming up, Home shows Travel times between meetings with Turn on. You can also switch it on or off under Connectors › Apple Maps.
  2. Add home or office, if you like. They count only for the first in-person meeting of a day; later ones count from your previous meeting. Manage them under Settings › Features › Travel times, which appears once travel times are on.
  3. Read the line. Each in-person event shows when to leave under its location. Pick Drive, Walk or Transit (your pick becomes your default), or Open in Maps.

Video calls are left alone. An in-person event with no location offers Add a location to get travel time. The address you confirm is written into the Google event. If others are invited, orma first tells you it changes the location for everyone; as a guest, you change only your own copy. orma checks traffic once more shortly before you need to leave.

What orma does, and what it asks

You ask to orma
Add, move or rename an event only you are on Does it, with Undo
Invite people Asks every time, showing who gets an email invite
Move or rename an event others are on Asks every time: Change it for everyone. They get an email from your calendar
Accept, decline or say maybe Asks every time: Accept, Maybe, Decline
Cancel an event Asks every time: Cancel event or Keep it. If it is someone else’s event, orma offers to decline it instead

Your yes covers exactly what you saw. If a guest is added or the time changes after that, orma asks again.

Good to know

  • Undo after an email went out. Undoing an invitation, or a change to an event others are on, puts it back and emails them again. They will have seen the first email.
  • Someone else’s words. When a request involves reading something another person wrote, like an email or their invitation, orma asks before changing your calendar, even for changes it would otherwise just make. See What orma asks before it acts.
  • Travel times and Apple Maps. Travel times come from Apple Maps, using your event locations and your saved home or office. orma doesn’t keep where you’ve been. The addresses you look up go to Apple Maps too, and orma doesn’t use where you are now. Home and office are saved only on this Mac: never synced, exported, or shared with connected AI apps.

Limits

  • Google Calendar only, for now.
  • A cancellation cannot be taken back.
  • orma checks when you are free on your own calendar only, not other people’s.
  • When you ask about your calendar, orma reads each event’s title, time, place and guests, not its description.
