orma

Connecting

AI apps

Connect an AI app and it can answer from your orma memory and save notes back into it. You choose what each app may read and write, and the notes and details it writes are marked as its own.

a connected app: what it may use, and Undo for what it wrote

Connecting an app

Open Connectors and pick the app under Works with. There are two ways in.

On your Mac. The app runs on this Mac and talks to orma directly.

  • Claude Desktop early beta. Press Configure automatically, then quit and restart Claude Desktop.
  • OpenClaw and NanoClaw. Copy the configuration orma shows into the agent.
  • Add agent. Name any agent that works with MCP, choose its access, then point it at orma the same way.

Over the internet, with a one-time code rolling out. The app runs in the cloud and reaches orma on your Mac.

  1. Pick the app, choose what it may read and write, and press Continue.
  2. Add orma inside the app. For Claude, Open Claude fills it in. For the others, Copy connector URL and paste it there.
  3. Enter the code orma shows, then approve the connection in orma.
App Before you start
Claude Any plan, including Free. Once added on the web, it is on your phone too.
Grok Add orma at grok.com, under Connectors.
Perplexity Pro or higher.
Le Chat (Mistral) All plans.
Gemini (Spark) Google AI Ultra only, in the US, beta.

ChatGPT shows Coming soon and cannot connect yet.

What each app may use

On your Mac, each kind has a switch under What this agent can access. Change them any time.

  • Read: Notes, Articles, Finds, Tasks, Calendar, People, Digests, Details, Email summaries on person cards.
  • Write: Create notes, Create tasks, Save URLs, Add tags.

Over the internet, you choose while connecting.

  • Read: Notes, Articles, Tasks and Digests to start. Advanced adds Finds, Calendar and Contacts. Every cloud app can also read the details orma has learned.
  • Write: Create notes to start. Advanced adds Create tasks, Save links and Add tags.
  • Afterwards, the app’s card shows what it Can read and Can write. To change that, disconnect it and connect again. Only Email summaries on person cards can be switched later.

What an app writes back

  • Notes an app writes say who saved them, like Saved by Claude, and show by Claude where they appear as a source.
  • Details an app records show From Claude (a connected assistant) on the page they are about. A detail becomes yours when you tap Confirm, or when your own notes or documents say the same. See Memory.
  • What it wrote lists each session’s notes and details, with Undo. Undo asks first, Remove all or Keep, and removes everything that session wrote. It is on each cloud app’s card and on each local agent’s page.

Working notes

While an app works on a longer task, it can keep working notes in orma: scratch space for that task. They are not part of your memory. orma never searches or answers from them, and they never appear on Home or in the island.

They sit under What it wrote, as Working notes for 1 task with View and Clear. Clear deletes all of them, and an app still on a task loses its notes. Working notes are deleted 14 days after their last change.

Good to know

  • When an app asks something, orma answers on your Mac and sends back only that answer. Your notes and what the apps ask are not stored on our servers. What leaves your Mac has the detail.
  • The first cloud connection saves a device key in your Mac’s Keychain, and macOS may ask you to allow it. It holds none of your content.

Limits

  • A cloud app can reach orma only while your Mac is on and orma is running. Claude Desktop needs only your Mac on.
  • Notes and details carry the app’s name. A task an app creates looks like one of yours.
  • Claude Desktop’s page has no What it wrote list and does not show working notes.
  • What an app does with an answer once it has it is up to that app and its own terms.
