orma

Overview

What orma is

orma is a sidekick on your Mac. Press ⌥ Space anywhere to ask it something, tell it something to keep, or have it do something, by typing or by talking. It answers from your own meetings, notes and documents, and asks you first before anything reaches another person.

Working with orma

  • Your sidekick today. What you can ask it to do today, across your memory, tasks, calendar, email, GitHub and Linear.
  • Talking to orma. ⌥ Space from anywhere, or ⌥ ⇧ Space to say it out loud. Ask, tell, or ask it to do something; you never pick a mode.
  • What orma asks before it acts. Private changes happen at once with Undo. Anything another person receives waits for your tap, every time.
  • Email beta. It reads and searches your Gmail, drafts replies from what it knows, and sends only when you say so. By invite, on Super.
  • Calendar. It adds and moves your own events, answers invitations, and invites people when you confirm.
  • Totals and calculations. Ask what something adds up to, and it counts it from your documents and shows every line it counted.
  • The island. Where orma lives, at the top of your screen.
  • Digests. A topic followed for you, on a schedule you set.

Your memory

  • Memory. Everything orma answers from: connected to people and topics, with details and deadlines you can fix in one tap.
  • Notes. Type or talk. Mention people with @, link anything with /, make a task with [].
  • Meetings. orma records your calls on your Mac without joining them. When a call ends, Continue opens a conversation about it, where you act on its next steps.
  • Tasks. From a line in a note, a sentence to orma, or a meeting’s next steps.
  • Saving from the web. ⌘ ⇧ U saves the page open in your browser. The browser extension for Chrome saves pages in one click: pair it under Connectors.
  • Documents. Drag in PDFs, Word files, Markdown, text files or images, and ask about them like anything else.

Connecting

  • AI apps. Claude Desktop and local agents on your Mac, or Claude, Grok, Perplexity, Le Chat and Gemini over the internet. You choose what each may use, and what they write is marked as theirs.
  • Bringing things in. Folders of PDFs, Word files and Markdown, Granola meetings, Apple Notes and Google Docs.

Your data

  • AI runs in the cloud. Answering, transcribing and reading use AI models in the cloud, so orma needs an internet connection for them. What leaves your Mac lists what is sent and what is kept.
  • Your memory is stored on your Mac. orma does not encrypt its database. Turn on FileVault, in System Settings › Privacy & Security, to encrypt your whole disk.
  • Backup Super. Off until you turn it on under Connectors. Your data is encrypted on your Mac before it is uploaded, and only you can decrypt it.
  • Export. Settings › Privacy & Data › Export your data › Export to Markdown saves a zip to your Downloads: notes, meeting summaries, saved reads and finds, digests, and the details orma has learned. Documents, tasks, email and audio are not included.
  • Plans. Free, or Super at $20 a month.
