orma

Your memory

Meetings

orma records your calls on your Mac, both sides of the conversation, without joining them. When the call ends, orma tells you the summary is ready, and Continue opens a conversation about the meeting, where you act on its next steps and keep talking about it.

the meeting’s next steps: Add puts one in your tasks

Recording a call

When a call starts in Zoom, Teams, Slack, FaceTime or a meeting in your browser, the island at the top of your screen offers Record. Nobody on the call sees anything arrive.

while it records
  • Let it start on its own. Once you have recorded a call yourself, orma offers to start the next ones: the island counts down from eight, and Dismiss stops it. Ignore it twice in a row and orma goes back to asking. This needs Google Calendar connected and the island on, and you can switch it off in Settings › Features › Meeting Recording.
  • Start one yourself. In the app, press ⌘ K, type /meeting-recording and confirm the title.
  • Take notes as you go. What you type in the meeting’s note while it records goes into its summary.

After the call

When the summary is ready, the island says so, with what it found: how many tasks and follow-ups. Home shows the same. Continue opens the meeting’s own conversation, with the meeting open beside it.

  • Next steps. The tasks and events orma heard, each with who it is for and when it is due. Add puts a task in Tasks, Add to calendar creates an event and says first if it will send invitations, Add all takes every task at once, and ✕ drops one.
  • Keep talking. Ask what was agreed, or what someone said about the budget. Because a recording holds other people’s words, orma asks before acting on anything from this conversation, even what it would otherwise just do.
  • The minutes. The meeting’s note holds its next steps and one section of minutes, with headings that fit what was discussed, like the decisions made or the blockers raised.
  • Who said what. Speakers are told apart. Rename one and the name is fixed everywhere in that meeting.

The meeting then becomes part of your memory: ask about it later, and orma draws on it to prepare your next meeting with the same people.

Good to know

  • orma uses two permissions, both asked during setup: the microphone for your side, system audio for theirs. It never asks to record your screen.
  • If processing stops part way, the audio stays on your Mac and orma finishes it the next time you open the app.
  • A recording orma started on its own has Discard. Any meeting can be deleted.
  • Calls are transcribed in 35 languages, detected automatically. Recording hours are part of your plan, shared with voice notes.

Limits

  • Recording someone may need their agreement where you are. That is yours to check.
  • Speaker names are per meeting. orma does not recognise a voice from one call to the next.
  • Transcription runs in the cloud, at Deepgram. What leaves your Mac has the detail.
