Working with orma

Digests

A research digest follows a topic for you. On your schedule, orma searches the web and what you have saved, and writes one short piece with its sources. In the app, press ⌘ K and type /digest.

a research digest: the write-up, then every source, marked web or saved

How to use it

  1. Type /digest and pick Research Digest.
  2. Choose a topic. orma suggests topics from what you have saved, or a few general ones to start. Add details if you like, or tap No, let’s continue.
  3. Pick how often (Daily, Weekly or Every 2 weeks), which day, and what time it should be ready. Check the summary and tap Looks good, create it.

A new digest shows on Home. Open it to Save to Notes or Copy it.

Activity Digest

Pick Activity Digest instead for a briefing from your connected tools, like Linear and GitHub. Choose the tools, how often, and when. Activity Digests are part of Super.

Good to know

  • Change it later. On a digest’s page, Edit runs the same questions and shows the updated settings before saving. You can also pause it, or Delete it; past digests are kept.
  • Plans. Free includes one research digest, every two weeks. Super includes up to 10 research digests and 5 Activity Digests, as often as daily. See Plans.
  • Web only, said so. If your saved content wasn’t available, the digest says it is based on web research only.

Limits

  • A digest needs an internet connection, and the web searches carry your topic.
  • To write a digest, the parts of what you have saved that relate to the topic are sent to our server and kept while the topic exists. Each digest is held there until it reaches your Mac. What leaves your Mac has the detail.
